iStockphoto Announced Editorial Use License

iStockphoto has announced that it will soon introduce a new editorial use only license. This means that customers of this stock agency will have the possibility to purchase images which do not have model or property release: social and travel photographs, product shots, architectural and landmark images.

The launch of editorial usage of photographs will be in the first weeks of upcoming 2011 and other formats (illustrations, video, etc.) will follow.

We can say that this is a huge step for iStockphoto since it have been almost the only one among the largest microstocks at the market to lack the possibility of purchasing editorial images. Such licenses are offered by ShutterstockDreamstime123RF and Bigstock.

It's important to mention that since iStockphoto is part of Getty Images empire it will not offer editorial images of news, sports or entertainment events. Such images will be available through Getty Images.
